Dining in the ROUND

My first dining table was round, and I loved it!  Even though I graduated to a larger rectangle table, I still have a soft spot for a quality round one.  It is also easier to fit in smaller spaces, like for renters or frequent movers.  I also wanted to showcase in this post how fun an upholstered dining chair can look in your space.  I wanted to go with just a little color POP in each room - the first one being cobalt and yellow and the second being a pale rose.  What do you think?  Can you picture your dinners in these fab rooms?

Get with the GREY

All the newly renovated homes are jumping on the GREY bandwagon. If you feel like getting with this cool tone, I've got some great ideas for you! Flooring is one of the biggest changes people are making, and when you can't do a dark wood in AZ, why not try a grey laminate - easy to install and easy to clean! If you can't make any huge changes, Restoration Hardware has some beautiful grey fabric choices on many incredible sofas, or splurge on a silk and wool rug from ABC Home (my favorite place for rugs!).  My two favorites though are the grey and white marble wallpaper and the backsplash.  This tile would be gorgeous in a kitchen or a bath, and it's from your local Home Depot. Are you feeling the grey?

Decor Wishes

I have 2 things I want to do to my apartment - make it a little less girly yet a little more accessorized....are those achievable at the same time?! Well, I would settle for the latter =)

Wishing these were in my house now...

Chandeliers for Boys

Boys, if you want to be a prince too and only run to the kitchen for cookies and beer.....I can make that happen as well ;)

Shabby Glam Room

It all started with this chandelier...oh me oh my.  If I could have a chandelier above my bed, I'd feel like a princess and never leave my room.  Except maybe to eat cookies and drink wine ;)

There's always room for the boys

If you're gonna commit to being a bachelor like 90% of the guys I end up dating, please do it with style.  Here is my take on a neutral, masculine, modern room with lots of texture and a little fun!

White. Wood. Leather. & Iron.

I had pulled so many cool pieces of furniture from the last room that I felt inspired to do another.  Also, I really want to go shopping, but am lacking the funds to do so.....so looking at clothes is a whole lot like torture at the moment!

Back to this awesome room though! These 4 things make such a classy recipe for a crisp and chic room.   If I knew how to be cleaner, and maybe didn't have a shedding animal, and maybe didn't drink red wine, I'd have a white sofa.  Or it could go in a room no one sits in....either way, it looks so good, right?!

Clean and Simple...and a little girly

I didn't really have any direction in mind for this room.  I started with a rug that tickled my fancy, and I chose a lot of pieces that I thought would be good backbones for a room.  I think it is smart to choose a neutral sofa and neutral other larger items because if you're anything like me, you may get the urge to fall in love with a new color combo.  This way you can switch out your pillows, rug, and side table and give the room a whole new feel!

Puttin' on the Ritz

With all the excitement of moving into a new apartment this weekend, I have started fantasizing about turning the second bedroom into an office instead of finding a roommate. Ahhhh would be nice.  A grown up, fancy, smancy, office.  A perfect space for creating my very own super duper successful charity based clothing line?! Wah. If I only I could afford such a magnificent fantasy...

Worldly Textures

As I am plotting my excursions to NYC, Montana, Texas, Hawaii, Vegas, and London for the next 6 months, I start to imagine what kind of room would fit a world traveler.  I picture something cozy, but vibrant with textures and lots of personality. The decor and furniture would be inspired by all parts of the globe, and elements of nature and vintage accessories sprinkled throughout.

Cozy Industrial

I can see this room as part of a giant loft with lots of potted plants, a big architectural desk, enormous leather sofa, exposed pipes and beams, and massive windows.  Ah in another life..

So ME Room

If only I could change my room to be more like this! I love these colors, patterns, mixture of modern and vintage, neon lights, and rich wood.  Not to mention the $1k cashmere throw blanket...oh me oh my.  It's also the bedroom to this living room....and not even on purpose!

A woMAN Cave

What's leathery with raw hide, brown and cream, and splashes of turquoise? A woman cave of course. ;)

I started this room trying so hard to make it masculine, but let's face it...I'm a girl.  Also, what percentage of men successfully decorate without some female touches? I've known like 2, maybe 1.

It's my man cave meets Texas meets my sorority colors.  Full hearts, clear eyes.

Deja Vu...

When I started decorating this room, I was just pulling cool things that I liked.  When I finished it, I realized it is pretty much a version of my already existing home.  I too have a grey couch, velvety side chair, wooden coffee table, accents of mustard and cream, and yep I'd immediately dive into this room.  Someone just give me that bar cart and lamp, and I'll be a happy camper.
