Market and Madewell

Sad to be back from a nice loooong weekend! But I did finally go shopping! Hallelujah.  ....Well, if you count the flea market and only spending $20...bam.  Little proud of myself =). I got a rad necklace ($15) and bracelet ($5) from the Fairfax Flea Market.  If you have never been to this, you really need to go.  They have furniture, jewelry, art, clothes, and some of the most random things.  Never turning my celebrity radar off, I almost always spot someone famous there.  So check it out - sporting the new necklace today! It is a bullet casing with an amethyst stone.
Alas, now it is back to the oficina, and look what I found this AM -
my faves from the new Madewell lookbook!

Wild Wall

A little colorful inspiration on a gloomy return back to work.  blah.  I wish I was still at the pool!

Twenty8Twelve - Spr11

To fully love Sienna Miller, you also have to love her and her sister's clothing line, Twenty8Twelve.  And thus I do =) .  For more info and pics click here.

Yummy

How did they put this on her?! Very clever.  Check out the rest here.

Ceramic stools/tables

I have used a few of these in my rooms that I've designed because I think they are really fun and versatile.  They can be used outside, inside, as a stool, or as a side table.  Mecox Gardens has some really fantastic ones, but at a pretty penny.  Anyway. Me gusta y yo quiero.

'Tis the Season

Welcome to the late 20s when everyone starts getting married! 'Tis the season to be reminded that I am still single. Ha just kidding.... kind of.  Weddings are so fun and happy, but for the single gal, it can cause a tinge of anxiety.  The simple solution is to look really hot and prepare for the potentially hot and hopefully single dudes also attending these weddings.  Am I right, or am I right? Hence, LOTS of dresses are needed!

I have had a couple of my girlfriends emailing back and forth with me about what to wear to their upcoming weddings.  It can be a daunting task since it is something that will be photographed and plastered all over facebook and will probably steal a few hundred bucks from your pocket.  What I would do is go for something that fits impeccably well, has a fantastic color (I'm really into mints, kelly green (duh), cobalt, and bright pinks and oranges (surprisingly)), and can be versatile.  This means stick to something that doesn't have any bells and whistles and can be layered in ways that make it seem like a completely different dress down the road.  And plllleeease be tasteful and don't try and wear a clubby dress. I will judge you. ;)

I have thrown in some pretty affordable options for those who have weddings like every weekend...I do not envy you....and I will let you in on my favorites and how I'd accessorize or make them a little more fun!  I am really into over-accessorizing these days, so I do lean towards a dress that I can dazzle up.  Also, there are some AMAZING white dresses out there right now because of the "white trend"...so by all means buy and dye if you know how. (FYI: Dyeing works better on off-white versus optic white).  It really is all about fit and how you feel in it!

From top left:  Thayer, MM Couture by Miss Me ($88), Zara ($99), ECI, Antik Batik

You could do a ton with that $88 dollar MM Couture by Miss Me dress.  Throw on a belt and a jacket...it is asking for color and fun accessories.  Not red though....don't be mini mouse.  I made that mistake once!  The Thayer and ECI dresses also seem to be screaming for a belt.  So by all means.  My favorite is probably the Zara dress because the print is fantastic, but I am really curious about that Antik Batik dress.  I'd wear the Zara dress with a tailored blazer - either cream or a soft navy.  The Antik Batik just needs some chunky shoes - and is ideal for a beachy destination type wedding.

I honestly hate wearing one shoulder dresses, so that is probably why I envy people who can pull them off!  My favorite of those is the ASOS one, but whoever picks the hot pink one would really stand out.  It could be on the "too tight" side, so try and see how it fits!  I have wanted the BCBG halter for a few months now...so I may just get that one for myself this wedding season.  Throw on a chunky necklace and big cocktail ring, and I am game!  Seriously can't believe that BB Dakota dress is only $61.  Not just a steal..it is a great color and looks well proportioned.  Let me know if you get it!

Phew. I think that is the most I have rambled on!   I have a feeling that weddings only increase from now on...so good luck out there and have a wonderful day! Peace friends.

Wishy wishes

I made a big to do about being forced to go shopping in Htown...however,  I was so busy with family time, that it never happened! Shocking!! No really.  If you know me, the fact that I never stepped foot in the Houston Galleria or High Gloss is utterly SHOCKING.

Well, don't fret friends.  I dream in fashion.  Actually this is quite true and one of the reasons I went to fashion school.  I tend to imagine clothes that don't exist when I go to sleep - especially after a day of shopping.  Since I have refrained from purchasing ANY article for my person for almost 3 weeks (I think), I can't help but dream up all these outfits that I wish I could wake up and wear.  Online shopping at SHOPBOP, REVOLVE, and ZARA have inspired me, and here are 2 outfits I'd certainly like to own!

(These are photoshopped images and not necessarily exemplary of the way the garments will actually drape)

Elephantisima!

I currently have 1 elephant - just one! Can you believe it?  My friends have been calling me Kelephant for a while now, and I am way behind in my collecting of elephant goodies.  What is so cool is that my grandmother collected elephants too! It didn't even occur to me until after the fact...which I find absolutely awesome.  Her collection is really great and meaningful, and I am so thrilled to have a couple pieces from it soon!

From now on, I will throw an elephant in each room I design, and anytime I find an awesome elephant, I will share it with ya'll!  Hopefully sometime this year I will make my way to Asia to meet some real elephants!

FSF by Curt Sousa

Wishful thinking...

I am trying to quit shopping.  haha no.  just kidding.  I couldn't even fake that for a second.  But I am trying to be better about spending, and thus my wish lists are getting a lot larger because I am not allowing myself to buy anything! And of course, like all addictions, I am wanting to go shopping so badly.  Not to mention that I am heading to Texas this morning, and I am positive someone in my family is going to FORCE me to go shopping.  Oh how, Oh how will I ever resist!?! Ok......I will be the one forcing.  I probably even shopping as your read this!  I mean vacations are always the perfect excuse....and i am sure I absolutely NEEEED something.  right?

Well, for the moment, I am must dream away.  Come on folks and dream with me!

Madewell - Fall

It looks like Madewell is taking mad cues from JCrew and I am a humongous fan. These are my fave looks from the lookbook for this fall!

Wish Listing

I have been wanting an equipment shirt for a while now, and I love this floral one for spring/summer!  With some holey jeans and wedges, I'd be set.  I stole this pic of a Phillip Lim jacket from my new love The Man Repeller.  I can't find it anywhere, and I so want it. right now. on my person. whilst typing...

Curious about the comfort level of the Miu Miu soes, but aren't they just adorable?! Oh yeah. The price is probably scary too.  I can only dream about that iPad case....Valentino!!...yeah that price is prob a little frightful as well.  But I will own that Free People bra/toplet soon....I think Tam has the same one...so copying you my fashionable friend =)

Guilty Pleasure Wish List

I can't even count the number of times my friends and family have nicely suggested that I NOT buy something....but what's a girl to do when she is shopping alone?  Well, I don't know about you, but I browse online stores alone and all too frequently.  And there are a number of things that I secretly...now not so secretly...wish I could purchase, wear, and parade around for all of you to judge.

So confession:  I do own a pair of fake glasses - and by fake, I mean an awesome pair of Paul Smith opticals w/no prescription.  I have tried really hard since I was in 5th grade to be a nerd, but thankfully my sisters rescued me and downgraded me to dork in disguise.  Now I have the glasses to confirm their fears. Sorry big sisters. Thanks for tryin' anyway!  The suspenders and fanny pack are next on my list...mwahahaha.  Now the Sperry's is the preppy southern girl in me always trying to get out, but honestly I have no clue what I would wear these with.  And that is the ONLY thing stopping me from buying these bad boys....for now.   Not to mention I stumbled upon a more hipster friendly pair today from Free People.

American flag denim shorts and Mickey Tee! Need I say more?  Plus I saw a model looking girl flaunting a pair like this, and I did feel like she made it acceptable for me to desire a pair as well....but for my more bubbly derrier.  Last - who doesn't wish they had a $200 spirit hood?! It's just that they are so dad gum expensive for a faux animal on your head.  I mean $50, and I would be tryin' to wear that sucker to work.

Stalking Rachel

If I could be any celebrity, it would be Rachel McAdams.  I do have a love affair with Sienna Miller, but I would trade places with Rachel anytime she requests....cuz who wouldn't want to be a 27 year old single girl selling fabric w/a bunch of old men and divas?  I know...you all want my job, but I only offer it to Rachel...OOO and maybe if Zachary Levi has a gf...she can trade places with me too =)

So now I offer you some steamy Rachel from the June issue of Elle - thanks to fashiongonerogue.com and tfs.com

Man Repeller

I seriously don't know what rock I have been living under and how I missed this girl! I have been searching for a funny, smiling, and honest fashion blogger for a while now - and she is a breath of fresh air.  I was cracking up instantly and her definitition of her fashion is so dead on and hilarious.  Please check out The Man Repeller!!!.  I honestly have this fashion struggle quite frequently - "to wear what I want (aka man repel) or attempt to look hot"?  Isn't that always the question?....though I prefer to man repel....or maybe I just man repel anyway ;)

I borrowed a few pics from her site - but the best is her commentary! I am totally inspired...and envious...and in love =)
I would die for these shoes btw.  Ok. not die.  I would...ummm...love you forever?

Kevia on Gilt

I love how Gilt has some of the most expensive stuff, and it sells out so fast! Where are these super wealthy people that buy diamonds online at 9am?! It blows my mind.  Anyway, this designer has some beautiful jewelry.  If I knew how to not work and buy diamonds at 9am, I would choose the below =)....

LRD - Little Red Dress

I have so much black in my closet, and I know that my problem comes from always thinking black is more "slimming" blah blah blah.  Well you may look a pound or 2 thinner, but who is gonna notice you when you blend in the crowd?  Do you dare to wear RED?  I really do fear a bright red dress, but with a little confidence, I think it's a bold, stand out choice.  Also, I'd make sure to go minimal on make up and accessories...the red dress is va va voom enough.

Elizabeth and James

Knit Blazer

I have never forgotten this cream knit blazer that I tried on 4 years ago at Fred Segal.  It was a heavy silk blend, boyfriend style, and totally on sale.  This is one of those things that I will forever regret not getting, and the person who convinced me not to get it shall not be named....but I have learned to never take fashion advice from a boyfriend again except for the occasional "hot or not"...wink.

So, I am always looking for it's twin, and I don't even know who made it to begin with!  A few of my good recent finds, but not quite the one.....
