Wishy Washy Wishes

With maybe the exception of the sandal, the rest of these items that I totally love right now are easily things that I probably won't totally love next year: Crop top, expensive backpack, and ripped up boyfriend jeans.  However, they are blazingly in style at the moment, so naturally on le brain....

Starring: Mixed Prints

I am so blessed to live on the breezy west coast where the cool wind allows for layers upon layers.  However, I grew up in the south where all you wanted to wear in the summer was as close to nothing as you could get.  It gets so hot and humid that even jewelry sounds terrible, and you have to change your outfit multiple times a day.  Those looming days are for outfits like these - 2 small pieces packed with lots of personality.  A simple top and simple bottom, but in bold mixed prints that you'll be sure to stand out...this is for all my homies in the heat...

Copy That: Emilio Pucci

I don't know if Emilio Pucci has improved, or if I finally woke up and realized how great this line is.  Every season he has done this year is to die for.  I couldn't find a printed fringe skirt (hello designers, please knock this off already), but I thought the fringe itself and shape were what drew me in more than the print.  There are a bunch of printed mini skirts out there, but I feel the outfit becomes a little more hoochy when it's solely a tight mini skirt and crop top.

Belt: Maison Scotch at Revolve.

If I lived here..

____
If I lived here, in this renovated barn in Colorado, I would own an internet company with my husband. It would be social media based with an importance on dating, drinking, and dining.  (Since this is a real idea of mine (and my bff), that's all of the biz I can divulge for now)  My husband and I would live out here on this monstrous ranch, but the helicopter parked outside takes us anywhere we want to go.  Our weekend excursions would be to the rivers of Montana, lakes of Michigan, hills of Austin, and beaches of Florida. At home, we'd have a garden where we grow our very own herbs and veggies.  Our chef's kitchen will be every cook's dream where we would spend hours crafting new recipes and bottling spreads and jams to sell at local markets.  We will host lots of events for local charities and weddings on our sprawling property.  There will always be something going on at LoneStar Ranch, and all are forever welcome!

My style will be preppy with a trendy flare.  I will sport classic colors and tailored silhouettes - neutrals, greys, navy, brown, pin stripes, plaids, and denim galore.  Collars, pleating, and belting...yes please.

Wintergreen Wishes

I started pinning matchy crop top and skirt outfits last year, and I have yet to commit to one...but I'm sure I will soon!  As I was browsing through my saved shopping images, I noticed a trend: Mint (or wintergreen for alliteration purposes).  With a nice little tan, these would be so darn cute.

or maybe white...

Prada...Marfa

To be honest, this isn't really my style.  I do love the rug and the lamps, but it is all a little too fancy and sharp looking for me.  However, I thought I would try a new style out and see how it fits.

What do ya think??

Many of the items are from One Kings Lane and didn't have brand labels.
Rug and art from Gilt.

Vintage Rock Room

Since my pup has gotten so sick, it has been really tough to think about too much else.  Being creative can be hard when my mind is so full, but it can also be such a great outlet for me.  I started 3 other rooms before this one began to unfold, and I think it really came together as my stress loosened.  It's one of those rooms that would be great for a couple because it has both masculine and feminine elements as well as a neutral pallet.  I love the texture and warmth with clean lines and vintage elements.

If I lived here...

For those of you who don't know, my poor little Rusty is very sick.  The doctors don't know how much longer he can make it, so this one is for him...

When I live here in 5 years, this will be my home in Manhattan beach California.  I will have successfully launched my one for one line of basics and undergarments.  My line will be predominately online and in local boutiques, but flying off the racks nonetheless.  Rusty will have decided to get into modeling, finally! After so many years of people telling him how cute he is, he gets discovered by an agent on the street and becomes an instant star in commercials and print.  He will have a huge backyard to play in, and I will have a lagoon pool for myself.  My husband's dog is an adorable white cavapoo, and Rusty is in heaven with his new bff.  I too am in heaven with my model husband who is an incredible pediatrician. Although we spend a lot of time working, we have frequent backyard bbqs, lots of hiking trips, and plenty of lazy porch Sundays.  Since I started infiltrating more feminine and flirty clothes 5 years ago, my wardrobe is now stocked full of dresses and skirts.  My husband prefers my Aviator Nation sweats though...go figure =)

Wishing I could make this life come true! Clicking my heels a bagillion times!

Get this outta my head..

I have almost bought this for myself twice now.  Man, resistance is tough, but the fact that I can't afford it makes it a tad easier...

I've only seen it at Ron Herman, and it's $1k with taxes. Yowza.

Girly Glam

In these days of being single, I can't help but relish in the excessive girlishness that I get to enjoy.  If someone had told me that I'd be single from this time to that time, perhaps my apartment would have this kind of look about it.  You know, there is such a small window until a man turns the entire apartment brown and tan ;)

Pink and sparkle overload commences now...

Next Best

My sister bought me this amazing Marc by Marc Jacobs purse for Birthmas (my birthday & Christmas), and I wore it to the death.  It went with everything, and added a fun print to bland outfits.  May it rest in peace.

She then miraculously found it's mirror twin at Buffalo Exchange! Her seriously incredible hunting skills made a seriously happy little sister.

Alas, it too is on its way out.  I wear it pretty much every day, and I have got to find something to replace it before it's too late!

Here are some of the ones I have come up with...

Warranted Wishes

I did a brilliant thing the other day.  I knew it would happen eventually, too.  I threw my keys down the trash chute along with my trash.  I had my dog on one hand, so he and I took a trip down to the dirty trash room.  There we dug for a little bit before I decided some kind of gloves were definitely needed.  The nice custodian lady gave me some giant plastic bags....how she doesn't have gloves boggles me, though.  After another 15 minutes of rummaging through garbage, sympathizing with the trash diggers around town, I gave up.  The trash man came about 20 minutes later and all was lost.

The ONLY bright side I have found is that I will be getting a new keychain.  A keychain can say a lot about a person.  Plus, they gave me my new keys without any kind of holder, so they are floating at the bottom of my purse just asking to be lost again!

Do I go with something silly and funny like a donut that will constantly make me wish I could eat donuts? (Etsy)
Do I go with my good ole alma matter bottle opener? Having a bottle opener on my last key chain was a great way to talk to guys at parties =) (UT Coop)
Do I go with a kelephant?! (Etsy)
Or do I go with my main squeeze Luke Skywalker's light saber? (Firebox)

Starring: Tie Dye

I've probably spent the past 20 years trying to figure out my style.  The problem is that I like all kinds of styles - rock n' roll, preppy, bohemian, sporty, girly, you name it.  My closet is just one big mix of styles, and yes I try my darndest to mash them together whenever possible.  If I could harness the perfect boho-rock-sporty girly gal, then life will be almost complete.

I give you now what I think is my second ode to tie dye.  Tie dye is one of those things I've loved forever and will love always.  It makes an appearance in all style types, so it will be a wardrobe must for my perfect style self.

Ok.. I know the rug is rainbow, the chair is splatter, AND the pillow is dip dyed, but they are such close relatives of tie dye! =)
